I stayed in Domus Mea for 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and my experience was very enjoyable. I had a single room that consisted of a single bed and a TV, and toilet and shower. The room was more than sufficient for my needs. The hotel is on the 5th floor of a nice secure building, and very close to Termini Station. I was always out exploring so i never had breakfast, but the breakfast room did look lovely. I would definately stay here again as I felt safe, the hotel was definately value for money and the staff very friendly, and really close to the Termini Station.

Great location, especially for a one or two night stay. Probably not ideal for much longer than that but perfectly fine for a short stay. Bathrooms are small but really all you need. Had a great big room with a balcony which was lovely. Being so close to Termini station was extremely handy! Staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place for a short stay if you're not planning to spend much time at the hotel... but why would you? you're in Rome!!

Great location, near Termini station, easy to find following the directions from their website. Good budget hotel, good service and friendly English speaking staff available 24h. The shared bathroom was clean. There was noise coming from people walking to the rooms upstairs.

This hotel does pretty much what it says on the tin. The location is great, about 5mins walk from Termini Station. The hotel is on the 5th floor of a residential building but there's a lift. The breakfast is rudimentary, but we weren't charged for it. My wife and I were definitely not happy with the bathroom situation (postage stamp size shared between 3 or 4 rooms!). The landlady was also a bit gruff and didn't speak much English but the two men were more helpful. The room was fine though, clean, reasonably spacious and with a small balcony. Paying with cash is recommended.

Clean beds and rooms. Very little noise from traffic outside. Juste treatment from the employes. The location of the hotel a few block from Statione Termini suited us very well. Negative thing was that on the web page it was written that the rooms had air condition. They had but to use it costed 8 Euros per day.

The owner, signore Ari, is a very kind person. The same we can say about others members of staff. Particularly Zizou, we had opportunity to talk and helped us with his opinions about the city and the people of Rome.

Have stayed here several times but was very disappointed not to get breakfast. We were given a bag with 2 packets of broken toast, butter, jam and 2 cakes. No cutlery so I don't know how they expected us to spread the butter and jam! No drinks! I am sure we could have been given something to take to our room if they were worried about any noise. Would have reservations about staying here again. It is unfortunate as I have always liked it in the past.

we stayed in a double room without bathroom. There were two rooms sharing the washroom facilities but we did not experience any problems there, although the shower was small and the lights are on timers. Room was about standard size for Europe. There was an air conditioner but at an extra charge of 8 euros. Breakfast was large fresh buns, coffee, juice and sweet buns--typical for Italy. There was an outside balcony available in the public area. All in all location was central and value for Rome was great. Entrance is on the fifth floor and via an ancient elevator. Staff were friendly and helpful.

This is the worst B&B we have ever stayed during our vacation to Europe in the past 4 years. We had a room with private bathroom but the room is so small that you cannot even put a big luggage in. Staff is very unfriendly and air conditioner is NOT included in the $110 EURO rate. The breakfast includes only 2 slices of stale bread/butter and a cup of coffee and we had to check out within 2 days of our stay. Not worth the money. Bad experience

It was a beautifully clean room. Lovely crisp sheets.. I was impressed. The welcome was really friendly... even at 1 AM. The morning coffee was great, the bread unlike anything I had seen, but interesting. Directions would have been helpful. Thank goodness for a kind bus driver. as would have been an address on the Venere website... I found it on another. It was perfect for someone arriving late on a Ryair flight looking for somewhere easy to get to from the train station.

We were advised not to stay in this area as it was "seedy". SORRY, we enjoyed our stay here nad found the staff to be extremely helpful and to go out of their way to provide us with whatever we needed. We walked around the neighbourhood in the evening and founf nothing to be alrmed about. This location is convenient to bus and train connections. The area is undergoing renovations. A market is right outside door in early morning. Would definately recommend it. We had a balconey where we could sit outside and enjoy a peaceful few hours. Lots of places to eat nearby.

I stayed at Hotel Domus in order to catch an early flight out of Rome. Because we was leaving before breakfast, the staff kindly prepared a take-away bag for me. The rooms ARE tiny (double bed, wardrobe and desk), we were just there to sleep. Easy walk to/from the station. Though my wife was a little nervous about walking down the side street that the hotel was on early in the morning, it is a street like any other in Rome. Good value!

Our room was VERY COLD. We asked if we could turn the heat on in our room and we were told that there was no heat until November!

This basic hotel was up 5 flights of stairs, or accessed via an ancient lift, which broke down during our overnight stay. Description on website of distance from Termini Station needs correcting - it is more like 200m not 50m from the train station. Nonetheless, well located for travellers coming in by train, and hotel staff recommended an excellent inexpensive trattoria for evening meal. Somewhat overpriced for level of facilities & service.

Would not recommend it to any body. Very sleepy, unwelcoming, indifferent ambience. The hotel is not a 50 metre walk from Termini station as mentioned in Venere.com but a good 300 metres. Absolutely base level rooms where they charge 8 Euros extra for air conditioning. The bathroom which was outside the room was sooo small u cud barely stand or sit. Very shabbily kept. In all not a pleasant stay at all...staff is also quite indifferent and uncooperative. Much over priced than what it is worth. The lift is abs old fashioned and rickety..fits in only two people at a time.

The room was nice but being Rome in July it was hot. I asked for the man at the front to turn on the A/C and he said that it cost 8 euros, and that if I had read the fax that they offered a/c, offered he repeated many times. They had no fans. I asked do you charge to heat the place in the winter? Plus the attendent made a big deal about paying with credit card, which was awkward. The shared bathroom was cramped. On the plus, the room was large, and we had a nice quiet balcony.

very close to Roma Termini but we found it difficult to locate. There was a problem with the heating system in the room. The shower was broken in the bath room. Great location - about 500 m from the train station (to find it easier keep in mind that you have to go spiralling inside the block). If you like walking - 20 min to Colosseum and villa Borghese, 40-45 min to Vatican. A metro station neaby. A supermarket next street, a street market 20 m from the hotel and a chinese restorant (not expensive at all) next door. Big and quiet room (we asked for it to face away from the street). Helpful staff. Weaknesses - the shared shower leaked on the floor making a puddle around the toilet no matter how we tried to prevent it and it was not very friendly towards the next customer. The breakfast was rathe uninspiring (a bun, 2 toasts, butter, jam, coffee) and ALWAYS the same. As we stayed there for 5 days it was a little too much. And the maid had a strange habit to throw away things she thought you didn't need - like a small sponge I had for washing my face. But on the whole - it was worth its price (55 euro per night)

This isn't a terrible hotel, despite the distinct lack of cordiality on the part of the desk clerks. For the price we paid, we weren't expecting the Ritz, but we were expecting a little more than we got. The lobby is like some 70-something little old lady's living room, cluttered with plates, figurines and other bric-a-brac. The fact that you have to take a small and rickety elevator up five floors doesn't enhance the experience. Nor does dragging heavy suitcases up another flight to the room. But to be fair, the room was decent-sized, nicely decorated and clean. The bathroom was also clean and well-maintained. Of course, since it was warm and the air conditioner wasn't turned on, we had to keep the windows open and there's a lively nightlife outside the window till all hours. The breakfast was not really worthy of the name, consisting of one large roll, one package of toast, one pat of butter, one package of jam and coffee. Compared to the excellent and substantial breakfasts we had elsewhere during the trip, a real disappointment. But if you don't eat breakfast anyway, that shouldn't bother you. I won't mention the clerk who yelled at us for pushing the bell too many times when we came in late at night. We didn't know it rang every time we pushed it, but he did have a point about us waking people up, however unintentionally. And he did apologize after we explaned to him. Overall, if this is the best you can afford, it's not too bad. But I'd recommend if you can spend 20 0r 30 more euro to get yourself a three-star hotel.

The place was quaint, had a cute small private balcony. The only thing missing was a private bathroom; however, we knew that the room had a shared bathroom. If you look for a hotel near everything and don't have to have much luxury then this is a good hotel for you. The staff is very nice, the rooms are ok. The bad things: Dirty coffeecups and glases. The hotel is on the 5th floor and it is a very scary elevator. Only fits 3 people and you really feel klaustrofobic in it. Very scary! AC costs 8 euro EXTRA per day and you will need it! The staff turns it of when you leave the room though, but it chilles down pretty fast. You have a nice pizza restaurang next door so you don't have go far for food. Very close to the termini station. I don't think any of my travelpartners would stay here again, mostly for the elevator and the bad cleaning (dishes).

The service is quite good. Despite that I arrived late at night I was welcomed and got my room immediately. The room was small but clean. Clean towels, nice shower, etc. TV set didn't work but I didn't care too much. There was no conditioning in the room (and it was rather hot at night.) In summary, it's an OK place for spending a couple of nights in Rome but for a longer stay I'd prefer something more "comfortable." The daily rate seems to be OK (50 euros.)

We stayed here in May 2006 for five nights. The Domus Mea is good value, basic accommodation. On the downside: there was no cubicle round the shower so the floor got wet through each time we used it. We asked for the air conditioning to be switched on but the man on reception (who was very nice) said he didn't know how to do it. We also asked for extra pillows but he didn't have the key to the linen cupboard. It was a bit too hot overnight a couple of times but the bed was very cumfy. The pictures of the rooms on venere are much nicer than the room we had but if you go to the hotel's own website: www.hoteldomusmea.it you'll get a more accurate idea of what the hotel is really like. I'm not sure who decided the hotel is 50 metres from Termini - it's definitely more than that - around 500 metres. However, this is easily walkable if your suitcase has wheels. On the upside: the staff are pleasant and helpful. The reception is manned 24 hours. You get what you pay for. We used the hotel as a base to get around Rome and because it is near to both the Termini and Republik Metro stations it's in a good spot to make the most of your trip. We would use this hotel again.

Upon our arrival we were greeted by possibly the friendliest man alive! After negotiating the slightly dodgy lift that is! The rooms were basic but comfortable, 2 minutes walk from the Railway station and Metro. Very basic breakfast facilities but overall I found the staff to be friendly and helpful, and enjoyed our stay there.

this hotel is very close to stazione termini and therefor you can easily reach every part of rome. the price is good for the service you get. rooms are quite clean, but could be a little bit quiter. I'm quite happy with my stay in domus mea and probably would choose again this hotel.

where do we start.Armed with a map of where the hotel was situated,we set out to try and find the domus mea. After several hours searching, we found the hotel at the end of a dirty and dingy street. Having heaved a sigh of relief at finding the property we then had to try and enter the building and then tackle the delapidated lift to the fifth floor. On entering our room for two nights the shock was what we expected although the room was quite big but unclean. We went on to the balcony that could just about fit us both on without collapsing and realised we had f....d up majorly. However we were not going to be put off our trip to rome and set about doing the tourist thing.Having seen pretty much of rome, we came to the conclusion that rome and the domus mea are as one, dirty unclean and dingy.however the hotel staff were quite welcoming, and the closeness to termini and terravision depots made the domus mea what it is,a cheap bed for a night or two in central rome.

Overall you get what you expect. It is definitely one of the cheapest hotels in the center of the city and therefore you cannot expect the largest, cleanest rooms and best services. On my next stay in rome i would consider stayind at Domus Mea again.

The bathromm can't be really called one. There was about one square meter for everything, shower, toilett and washbasin. Well, the good part of ist was, you could sit on the toilett and take a shower the same time. The Furniture was old and simple. Well, maybe one can live with it, however, it won't be easy to live with the beds!!! The best you can do is, to stay as little as possible in your hotel and enjoy the town. Maybe you are so exhausted that you can find some sleep... And forget about the breakfast. It is not worth to be mentioned.

First off, we're your average folks touring Italy - good, kind travellers; not too picky; laid-back; clean people (certainly not labeled as clean freaks); etc. BUT... the bathroom was disgusting!! The wall tiles (and perhaps the floor) had mildew growing on them. My friend and I were worried we would bring home fungi or other live matter on our feet. There was no separate shower stall, meaning that the shower head sprayed directly onto the toilet area. You have at most 2 feet of space between the toilet and the wall to shower yourself. Breakfast and coffee were poor, compared to other two and three star hotels. The cleaning lady seemed to use the same bucket of dirty water and rag towel to wash all the floors, room to room. We saw her in the hallway. The female receptionist at the front desk was rude. The male receptionist was kind and friendly. So, it evened out. Also, the location of the hotel is in a seedy and very polluted part of town.

Arrived at around 01.00 to find the desk permanently manned. The hotel is conveniently situated within walking distance of the Termini station, the arrival point of trains and buses from both airports, the starting point of the open top tour buses, and many other bus routes. Hotel decor is a bit 1950s! The whole of central Rome is within walking distance of the hotel once you get the feel of the city layout and provides good exercise too!
